about chloe

At age 9, Chloe began painting angels for peace and donated a percentage of the proceeds to Studio by the Tracks, a center for autistic children and adults in Irondale, AL. She also donated an angel every year to their annual fundraiser, "Art From The Heart", where her angels sold for up to $160. She then began putting her angels on t-shirts during the holidays, which were sold in retail stores in Birmingham, AL.

The founders of the Art Miles Mural Project learned of Chloe's work and asked her to represent them as a Peace Paint Ambassador, and in 2001 she began painting for peace and the environment. She has since represented the AMMP in a variety of locations around the world: New York City, NY; Putrajaya, Malaysia; Chiapas, Mexico; Birmingham, AL; Catalina Island, CA; New London, CT; and Santa Rosa Beach, FL.

In 2004, Chloe was invited to represent the United Nations at the TUNZA International Children's Conference on the Environment in New London, CT, where she collaborated with 450 other children from 50 countries on environmental concerns that face our world today.

In June 2005, Chloe's art and poetry was featured in CHILDART Magazine, a magazine of the International Children's Art Foundation.

In August 2006, Chloe was once again invited to the TUNZA International Children's Conference in Putrajaya, Malaysia, where she joined over 200 other youth from across the world. As a commitment to making a difference, the conference attendees were asked to plant 25 trees per year. Since that time, Chloe has planted over 100 trees and has given away hundreds of seedlings at area events.

In 2009, Chloe also traveled to Chiapas, Mexico to study the fair-trade coffee industry while again representing the AMMP. She painted with the children of local villages, including the Maya Vinic and the Zappatista villages, helping them express their lives on canvas.

Upon returning to Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Chloe was instrumental in bringing the international project to her town. Hundreds of murals from around the world lined the streets of local communities for the month of March, 2009, including the murals from her recent trip to Chiapas. Area schools worked on this project for the year leading up to the event and International musicians, artists, and films were also a part of this multicultural event.

Chloe is now a senior at South Walton High School. This year, she is the president of the South Walton Anchor Club and is currently working on a collaborative effort with the AMMP for spring 2010--her legacy to the school as she transitions to college in 2011.
