The Art Miles Mural Project began in 1997 when children from an orphanage in Bosnia-Herzegovina painted a mural on a bullet-ridden sheet. Since that time, over 800 murals have been completed from all over the world, with a goal of creating twelve miles of murals and with the objective of “Creating Global Harmony” through art, one mural at a time, one mile at a time. The project began with the intention of creating one mile of murals about the “environment” for and by children. However, multiculturalism and Indigenous Peoples as topics soon emerged from requests by children from all over the world, so they were added to the project. The Art Miles Mural Project is truly making a difference in the world because each person who paints or even watches this phenomenon happen is affected in positive ways that truly bring people together. And that is where PEACE begins, within ourselves and with those we are in community with. From there it spreads and those of us who believe that PEACE is more than just a dream continue to work toward a world that can live in a peaceful coexistence. In 2003, Chloe was invited to work with The Art Miles Mural Project as a Peace Paint Ambassador and help design a full-fledged program for youth to become “mural masters” by painting murals for peace all over the globe, to complement the work that is being planned during the Decade of the Culture of Peace.
